Ellucian Banner Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system – Learn all about Banner 9
The Ellucian Banner ERP system is an integral part of the day to day business at New Mexico State University (NMSU). NMSU is in the process of upgrading our current version of Banner 8 to Banner 9. Banner 8 INB will be de-supported at the end of December 2018. The focus is on upgrading the Banner 9 administrative pages (known as Banner INB) by the end of 2018 with the Banner 9 Self-Service Applications (i.e. Registration, Student Profile, Employee Profile, etc.) to follow in 2019-20. The upgrade of the administrative pages will have no impact on our student body.
The new release delivers a number of important enhancements, including a modern user interface, enhanced navigation and process management tools, and new functionality across the Student, Financial Aid, HR and Finance modules. With the new version of Banner, NMSU should be able to extend, configure, and add technologies as campus needs evolve and do so without sacrificing existing investments.
With any system upgrade, we know that people often grow concerned over what will change, and we have been working closely with our partner, Ellucian, to understand and anticipate those changes. To date, most of the feedback that other institutions have provided indicates that getting used to the new interface and navigation takes minimal effort (like an update to Office 365 or Canvas). To date, hundreds of Banner customers have already upgraded or are in the process of upgrading, and we will be able to share experiences across the Banner community as we roll out Banner 9 here at NMSU. The various administrative units (Student, Student AR, Financial Aid, HR and Finance) and support groups have been busily working on the Banner 9 administrative pages implementation to ensure a successful deployment. The administrative units will be reaching out to the NMSU Banner INB community to coordinate system testing and training as we work to complete the overall project schedule.
We will be keeping the University community informed of our progress through this Banner 9 website https://banner9.nmsu.edu/ as well as through open discussions with the Banner 9 project teams. It is important for the Banner INB users to become familiar with navigating the Banner 9 admin pages as soon as possible. This Banner 9 website contains helpful links including FAQs and quick videos as well as a high-level project timeline. Please continue to monitor this site for updates and utilize the helpful links section to get started with Banner 9. We welcome your involvement on this critical initiative.
